Regular events and occasions on the costa del sol

Spain is renowned for its Fiestas and Ferias.  A typical feria can last up to 5 days. During this time whole villages become carnivals. Restaurants set up outside stalls with delicious tapas and snacks. You will usually find a host of fun fair attractions and, of course, being Spanish you will almost always see a spectacular fireworks display. The locals dress in traditional Flamenco attire and very often parade on horseback. The best of these are to be found in the larger towns and villages, however even the smallest of village puts on a great event and should not be missed.  Fiestas tend to be of a shorter duration, and are often based around a procession. Most ferias will end with a light or firework display.

The Junta de Andalucia produce the following list of Ferias and Fiestas. You should do your best to double check that a particular event is happening. For your convenience we have listed the approximated dates of the ferias and fiestas by month.  You can go straight to the month of your choice by using the links below.
